Happy Tail for Meesha

When I first saw my boy, I knew I wanted to be with him! And now I have a whole family! Everyone loves me, and calls me Meesha on a Leesha. I have a huge backyard to run after my favorite blue Frisbee, I have a cat to herd (I know he’ll get the hang of it someday), and I get to sleep with my boy every night! Plus I get to start agility training. I go for lots of walks, but my people walk too slowly.

They keep telling me how much they love me, and how thankful they are to have me in their lives. I only know that I’m thankful to them, as well, not only for recognizing my brilliantness, but for giving me such a beautiful home.

Thank you, Cindy, for fostering me, and thank you, 4 Luv, for rescuing me.

Happy Tail for Marley

I adopted Marley in May of ’09 as a “quit-smoking” gift to myself. For the first couple days it was a little rocky as we both were in stages of separation anxiety, but now we couldn’t be happier.

We have moved to Arizona together where we both love to play, hike, and camp with our family. Marley has been a joyful presence in my life since day one, and now I can’t imagine life without her!!

Thank you so much for all of your hard work ensuring pets and people can find each other so easily! You guys were great.

Happy Tail for Nala

Nala came to us at a good time, helping us get over the loss of our beloved dog, Snoopy. Nala was left tied up on someone’s doorstep at Christmas time. She came to us scared, skinny, and non-trusting. Over just a short time of us loving and re-assuring her, she is a happy, well-adjusted, playful puppy.

She is the happiest when she has something in her mouth, whether it is food, a toy, dirt, kleenex or whatever. She is now very curious and not afraid of much at all. She comes to the lake with us and loves the water. Nala loves a good chase and lots of attention. She is very entertaining for our entire family to watch, (she’s better than tv!), and has brought us all a lot of joy.

Happy Tail for Sammi

Hi, my name is Sammi.

I was adopted in March of 2009 at the peak of the Red River flood. Luckily, my mom and dad’s new house was out of danger and I had a safe, dry place to call my new home.

I made myself comfortable right away, in fact I was even cute and snuggly enough to be able to sleep in bed with my dad the first night, while my mom worked the night shift, even though he was pretty sure he was going to put me in the kennel. :) I am pretty good at talking them into things, but I don’t think I’m too spoiled. ;) Some of my favorite things to do are running, rollerblading, playing fetch, car rides, neck rubs and chasing rabbits in my backyard.

My mom and dad keep talking about how I’m going to be a big sister to something called a “baby girl” in February. I’m not quite sure what this means but it sounds pretty fun! As long as I still get my neck rubs. :)

Thank you 4 Luv of Dog for rescuing me from the pound and putting me with my forever family!

Happy Tail for Molly (Holly)

Hi Everyone! It’s Me Molly ( Formerly known as Holly )

I would like to thank the people at 4 Luv of Dog Rescue for finding me my forever home, or should I say that I found them.

January 2010, Julie ( my foster mom ) brought me to meet my new family. I was 3 months old and a little scared at first, but I checked things out and I went right up to my new Dad and put my head on his shoulder. That was all it took,I’ve been here ever since.

I stay pretty close to my new family, and will sit on anybody’s lap that will let me. My family has a 3 yr old grandson that come to visit and him and I play together. I love it when he comes, I even sleep with him during nap time. My family and I go lots of places together, I love going to the lake in the summer, and going for boat rides. I haven’t went in the water yet… but maybe next year. I love going for walks, and playing fetch and tug-o-war with my toys, we have alot of fun my family and I, this is a good match.

Thanks again 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, I love it here!

Your Friend,

Happy Tail for Torii

Hi! My name is Torii I got adopted in September 2010 by a wonderful couple. They love me very much, they are my forever family. I will be very happy here. I also have a older sister named Chloe. She loves me too, except she gets crabby at night and growls at me. Mom has to tell her to be nice, because we both like to lay by mom at night, so she can pet our little heads. We also get to sleep with her in her bed, that is so awesome!

I also have a big fenced in yard to run and play in. We go for walks, car rides to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. They just love me, they think I’m the Sweetest thing. They have treats for us, we are so spoiled. Chloe loves to chase me all over in the yard, I tell her “catch me if you can.”

I have a little boy who loves to play with me, because I bring the Frisbee back to him to throw again. He’s my mom’s nephew. I think we will get along just fine.

Torii loves to be held and is very cuddly which I love very much, and gives plenty of hugs and kisses to us. She has brought happiness to me, after the passing of my other 2 dogs Tazzy and Mist. They will be missed. I will see them again someday. Torii sure loves toys that squeak, I always know where she is because she squeaks them.

I am grateful to organizations such as 4 LUV OF DOG for rescuing animals who deserve another chance at happiness and are in need of a forever home. THANK – YOU FOR MY BEST FRIEND!

Happy Tail for Jori

We had our hearts broken so badly in March, 2010, when our Miniature Chihuahua, Wor past away suddenly. Within days, both Dick and I were lost and with heavy heart and pushing from my sister Pat, and her help, we got Jori. His coloring and markings are so close to Wors. Jori is not all Chihuahua, but he sure has many habits of Wor’s that makes me believe that Wor sent this dog to us!

The life Jori had, before foster care with Rhonda and Scott was heart wrenching. But, I can say now that this dog rules the house and is very close to us! We spoiled him rotten, becuz when Dick goes to the store he had best bring in a new squeak toy or a favorite chew he likes, otherwise Jori goes and pouts (!), but in return, he gives us love for payment. Jori has learned to camp, and loves the different parks we have gone to, and he rides really well in the car, and has his own front seat in the car and in our RV. He isn’t too crazy about the golf cart yet, as it only has a roof and windshield on it and I know that eventually Dick will buy doors for it becuz that is going to make Jori happier when riding in it…..! He comes first and foremost, and we just love this guy to the max! We had him in dog obedience school and he did good.

I am so thankful for 4 Luv of Dogs and their understanding and cooperation in getting Jori to us, as fast as they did. We had tried to adopt three other Chihuahua dogs with “no success, nor help” with two organizations we went thru, until one lady told me about 4 Luv of Dogs, I went to their link and found Tori and Jori in there and within days they had Jori in our home and how wonderful it was to meet Rhonda and Scott who fostered Jori and we got first hand information on how he was around them, and their daughter.

Jori is quite the dog, and Dick just cannot get enough of watching this dog play or sleeping on the back of our couch. Jori has his own pillow in our big bed and sleeps with us, but every night Jori stands on the landing wanting to go to bed with one of his chew sticks sticking out of his mouth like a stogie, after he goes outside to potty before bed time! That chew is a must for when he goes to bed! (Not of our choosing, but Jori gets what he wants.) :>)Each day Jori brings more laughter and love into our lives and hearts.

The hard work that these people at 4 Luv of Dogs face each day is astronomical, they show their love and their concern for every dog they rescue and we are so grateful for this organization that avidly works to find homes for every dog they get!! Thank you (!!!) from Dick and I for Jori, and bringing peace to us after losing our precious dog Wor. You all have hearts made of Gold!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Tail for Cooper

We adopted Cooper back in November, and we have to say he is the most loving, fun, and amazing companion anyone could ever ask for. Cooper has such a unique and exciting personality, that everyone that has met him smiles. He loves to play, snuggle, and eat… and trust me… he never gets enough of these three passions he has! There are too many favorite stories about Cooper, because there are new adventures everyday with the little guy.

We cannot thank this organization enough for letting Cooper become part of our family. For this organization made it possible for us to find our perfect pet, for we looked for months and months for this little loving Dachshund. Cooper fits in right with us, and we love him to pieces!

Thank you!

Happy Tail for Lewy

Lewy became a member of our family just before his first birthday last November. He is a 45 lb lab/cocker spaniel mix, which is a perfect size for the townhouse we live in. He is our “forever puppy” as he looks like a lab pup and everyone is surprised when we tell them he is full grown.

Lewy came with the name Lewy and it stuck. When he came to live with us he already responded very well to his name, he was housebroken and knew several commands like sit, lay and high five. He is a great listener and really likes to be around people.

Lewy loves to run. We can barely make it through the door and he is antsy to go play frisbee or fetch with his tennis ball. Even more then running though, Lewy loves, loves, loves to swim. We think his favorite place is Grandma and Grandpa’s lake, where he can jump off the dock and swim all day long.

He has such a silly personality, he always keeps us laughing, and even though he is a bundle of energy he is just as content curling up on his bed or cuddling on the couch for a lazy evening in. He is a great addition to our family and we are so happy we were able to adopt him from 4 Luv of Dog!

Happy Tail for Georgia

Georgia has been a wonderful part of our lives since August of 2009. Initially, we were very excited to bring her into a loving foster home while we waited for someone to come along and take her home forever. We were told that she had been in the rescue for approximately two years, and everyone who knew this loveable character was overjoyed that she finally found a foster to care for her. Although still convinced she would be only a visitor in our home, we devoted much of our time making up for the wonderful life she missed growing up.

After going on walks, playing in the yard, and getting lots of belly rubs, she quickly moved from her spot in the kitchen to having free reign of the house. She was now warming a spot both on our bed and in our hearts. By Christmas of 2009 we could not bear the thought of her being a part of any other family, and we had to adopt her! There was much joy in the 4 Luv of Dog Rescue family as we all knew we had found a perfect match.

Since becoming a Hayes, Georgia has had an incredible impact on us. Her lovable demeanor and undying loyalty assures us every day that this is indeed her forever home.

We are so grateful to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue for bringing this wonderful friend and family member into our lives.

Happy Tail for Roxy

Roxy was originally a foster, but within the first week of having her I just knew that she would fit into my life perfectly.

She hasn’t had a single accident in my house since I have had her the last 3 months, she doesn’t hardly beg, she never gets into anything she isn’t supposed to, and she doesn’t chew on anything. She is so well behaved and loves going on runs with me and cuddling up on the couch and watching movies. She is protective of our home and extremely loving.

She is perfect for me and I couldn’t be happier with her and I am so glad I adopted her into my life. :o)

Thank you,

Happy Tail for Penny (Penelope)

Penny (Penelope) started out as my foster dog and I quickly realized I wasn’t going to be able to let her go. She is such a wonderful girl and a perfect addition to the household. Penny has the important job of teaching the new foster dogs the ropes and takes her job very seriously, especially the “play until they’re worn out” part! We often have my parents’ dogs over so there is never a shortage of playmates.

We are signed up for our third obedience class and although I might be biased, she’s one of the best in class. Our instructors comment often on what a great dog she is and I plan to get her certified as a therapy dog.

Everyone who meets Penny falls in love with her and she is a great ambassador for her breed. I have a list of people who have volunteered to take Penny if anything ever happens to me….should I be worried? :)

Thank you 4 Luv of Dog for rescuing Penny from the pound when her time was up. I can’t imagine life without my girl. ~ Brooke

Happy Tail for Liberty

Hi! My name is Liberty, but my new Mom and Dad mostly call me “Libby”. I’m part Old English Sheepdog and part St. Bernard (and if you believe my mom, I’m about half woolly mammoth.) I was a world traveler before I got to my forever family- starting out in Duluth, MN, next going to Fargo and Barnesville before finally settling into my forever home in Bismarck.

At first I was a handful, especially for my mom, (at 110 pounds, I weight the same as she does!) but the wonderful volunteers at 4luvofdog coached my mom and taught her what to do to teach me my manners. I’ve really come a long way and Dad and Mom are so proud of me.

I’m just a puppy so I still have lots to learn, but my big brother, Mac, is teaching me too so I’m learning fast. I love to run and play and Mac has introduced me to the other dogs in the area. He’s a good big brother. Every night he and my mom and dad and I all go for a long walk together. I love “pack time”-it’s my favorite time of day!

Part of settling into my new home was learning my role in the pack and I now know where I fit in and what’s expected of me. In fact, I have a VERY important job in our pack. When my Mom falls asleep watching TV, it’s my job to be her pillow. ( And I love my job.)

Happy Tail for Dory

We adopted Dory in July 2009, and my kids want to make sure you know how much we love her and how much she adds to our family.

This is our first dog, and it was a big step for us. However, my son’s words sum it up. We were talking about all of our various pets (gerbils, hamsters, fish, amphibians) and I included Dory. His reply was “Well mom, she’s not really a pet. She’s a person in our family”. We love her, she turned out to be perfect for our family.

Thank you for all of your generous and loving work. Thank you for connecting us to our Dory.

Happy Tail for Sydney

I’ve had Sydney just over two months now and I’m so happy to have her. She gets along great with my roommate too. We have a lot of fun playing tug of war or throwing her tennis ball for her. Sydney was very nervous in the car when we first put her in the back seat but she’s now realized that going in the car means that she gets to go to the lakes and she will try and push her way into the garage any chance that she gets.

At the lakes I was nervous how she would react with my family’s little dogs because they have never played with a big dog. She passed with flying colors and is very gentle with my 15 month old nephew also! The next big hurdle was to see if she was afraid of the lake. I took her down to the landing and she dove straight in. We now play fetch in the lake every weekend and she is quite the little swimmer.

We started puppy kindergarten this fall to work on simple commands and get her socialized with other dogs. I think she’s enjoying it and I’m already seeing results.

Thanks for bringing Sydney into my life 4 Luv of Dog!

Happy Tail for Rush

We’ve only had Rush for a little over a month now, but we can say that it is going very well and we couldn’t imagine our life without him. He loves his new brother Harley. They share toys very well and love to play tug with a rubber tire. We take them to the dog park frequently, which they love, so they can wear off some energy.

Rush definitely is a character. He gets very excited when he sees people or another dog across the street and just wants to run over and lick them to death. He loves to show affection by jumping up on the bed or couch with you to cuddle and lick you. He really is a big teddy bear. We’re starting to realize why his nickname was “Doofy”. He’s having a hard time learning tricks and what the word “off” means but we’re working with him.

He is so much fun and we are so appreciative to 4 Luv of Dog for giving us the opportunity to save a dog’s life and add a member to our family.

~ Thank You, Jessy and Amanda

Happy Tail for Pepe (Munchy)

The first time we met PePe (formerly known as “Munchy”), we went to adoption days to see our daughter and her foster dog. We weren’t looking to get another dog at that time, because we have a black lab, Molly, at home… but when we saw PePe, we fell in love! We were surprised at how calm and quiet he was, for being a chihuahua… so, we came home and immediately filled out an application! Lucky for us, we were the first ones to apply for him.

Since he has been here, PePe has added so much life to our home. He loves to go for walks with me, he sleeps with me under the covers, and is usually not too far from my side, no matter what I’m doing! He and Molly love to play tug of war, and fetch after tennis balls in the back yard.

PePe also has a cat sister, who he loves to bother and play with! The cat is not too crazy about him, but she tolerates it! He has given us so much love and laughter, and really filled an empty space in our home, since all of our kids are grown and moved out.

Thank you to 4 Luv of Dog for rescuing PePe, so that he could be a part of our life. We couldn’t imagine it without him!

Happy Tail for Joey

I am Joey and I was adopted into a nice home in December 2009. I had been living there as a foster dog since July 2009, therefore I feel like I have been in my new home for over a year now! I was left alone in the pound and was really stinky when I first arrived but soon learned to love baths to help keep me clean. When I first got here I was afraid of a lot things and was very protective of my new owner. In the past year I have learned how to greet people when they walk in my new house and be nice to people while out on walks. I still have issues when people bend over me, but my owner now knows what sets me off and knows that I will warm up to new people as soon as I get to smell them for a bit.

When I first came here I was pretty sick and didn’t like to play all that much. But my house is now filled with toys that I love to play with! My favorites are squeaky balls, my stuffed monkey, and the blue bone that I carry everywhere. I love to play fetch in the yard and in the house. I am also really good at carrying my dish full of food around the house so I can eat in which ever room I want to that day. I have even learned to carry it up and down the stairs without spilling!

I love my new home, I get to lay in my bed all day and sleep when my mom is at work. But my favorite part of the day is when she gets home and we get to go for a walk. I love to bark at people on bikes, it is highly entertaining! I also have a whole backyard to myself with an fence and everything! I keep all those pesky bunnies out of the yard too!

Overall, I love my new home and am always happy! Thank you 4luvofdog for saving me from the pound and helping me find a new home!

Happy Tail for Kirby

Greetings! On July 31, 2009 our family adopted Kirby, a shih-tzu mix, from 4LuvofDog. His original name was Butch, but when we saw him, he looked like a Kirby to us. We named him Kirby after Kirby Puckett, as we are huge fans of the Minnesota Twins.

When Kirby first came home to our family, he was a very shy, quiet, and timid dog, almost keeping to himself most of the time. At first he knew how to fetch, but didn’t know any other tricks. As of right now, in the last year we have taught him to sit, shake, stay, dance, speak, and his newest is rolling over!

The youngest child, Paige, who is nine, loves watching dog shows on animal planet, and has taught Kirby most of his tricks that he does today. She spends hours with him, playing with him, cuddling with him, and teaching him new things/refreshing his mind with his old tricks.

When we first got him, he never ever barked—didn’t even make a sound. He was not playful at first, and very afraid. Now he loves to nibble on your hands and growl playfully when you play with him! He still never barks, unless it’s our neighbor or a rabbit, or if we tell him to speak! When he first started to come out of his shell, his bark was very week and high—now it’s loud and deep!

It is so amazing how much he has come out of his shell—our family is just amazed at how much he has evolved into his own unique personality, and how well he fits into our family! Without Kirby, we don’t know what our family would be like! He is always there to cuddle on your lap, or give you kisses, and always is ready to play, as he most always has a toy in his mouth! He loves to exercise and run freely on grandma’s farm—he is a very active dog!

We are so thankful to have Kirby in our family, because like I said before, it just feels weird if he is gone at the vet or something like that! Thank you, 4LuvofDog for giving us such a cute little fluffy blessing in our life! We are so thankful to have him, and will love him until the end! Thanks again, 4LuvofDog! ~ Brian and kids – Michelle, Aaron, Paige, and Kirby

Happy Tail for Nahla (Velvet)

We adopted Nahla (Velvet) about 7 months ago. I was never sure I wanted a pit bull –especially an abandoned one where there is no information about her background-but when my Frenchie went running over to her and they began playing at Petsmart we immediately fell in love with her. She has been the most amazing dog. She is so smart and curious about everything that we have nicknamed her Busy.

We bought Nahla a baby pool where she will play and splash around all day outside, she also loves to watch All Dogs Go to Heaven, which we play in the dogs room when we are gone, and at 80 lbs she still loves to be carried around. She is really good with all of our dogs, kids and anyone who comes to visit and we have finally found someone who can outplay our Frenchie!

We couldn’t be happier with Nahla and 4 Luv of Dog Rescue for bringing her to us!

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.”

~ Erin
