Happy Tail for Xerxes

Dear Kish – My name’s Xerxes, and I’m a model pitbull! Everywhere I go, I get compliments on how handsome I am, and how well-behaved I am. I’ve even helped change a lot of people’s opinions on pitbulls. Now they see how sweet and gentle we are. I own two people that I absolutely love. A couple of other dogs own them too, but it’s okay – we share very well! I LOVE the other doggies, too. Pongo is funny, and it’s great to have Lola, a pitbull my own size to wrestle with! Out of the 3 of us, I’m the best listener, though! My people are great! I spoil them, and let them sit on the couch with me and sleep in my bed with me. They are SO SPOILED! Sometimes I let them play catch or tug with me, but we’re not very good at it… not like Lola is. But we try!! Since I adopted my people, I’ve been pretty happy, and I think they’re happier too!

Thanks, Kish and the great people at 4 Luv of Dog, for letting me adopt 2 GREAT humans! All they do is cuddle with me and praise me! I just love ‘em (but that crazy lady with the camera is a bit nutty)! And my new doggy buddies aren’t half bad either! Dog Bliss You All!

Love, your friend Xerxes Teller Whalen

P.S. – my humans say thanks too! ;-)

Happy Tail for Sophie

Sophie is a treat to have around and is coming around a lot. She is still afraid of doors and just about anything but me. She is MY dog and that is clear to anybody that comes around. When we go for walks she walks right beside me. Not in front and not behind! She loves her buddy, Keno. She runs and plays with him and gets in as much trouble as he does. Keno has taught her how to shred paper, mmmmm. There are days when I come home for lunch and it looks they’ve had a party, ie; couch pillows all over the floor, doggy beds in the living room (of which they are not originally placed there), paper all over the place, and once in a while socks and slippers shredded. They are so cute when they look at you like they know exactly what they have done and they are soooooo sorry, well, I just can’t scold them. I now have no slippers of the three pair I had but that is okay. I guess I should have put them away. ;-)

Sophie is a joy and has brought sunshine into our home again. We are truly grateful for having the opportunity to give Sophie a forever home.

Happy Tail for Jasper

I decided after losing my best friend Beezlee unexpectedly that I wanted to adopt a dog instead of getting a puppy. I had always looked at the 4 Luv of Dog Rescue site on the internet and wanted to give a dog a home. The application process seemed like it might take a little while so even though I wasn’t sure if I was ready for another dog I figured I could get approved and get one when I was ready. The process only took a week or so and before I knew it Jasper was in my living room (he was so adorable I just had to take him home).

Jasper has helped me to feel happy again!!! He’s been such a wonderful dog, only two accidents on the first day and none since. He played fetch for an hour with my five and eight year old sisters. He has been wonderful with all my siblings (including the two week old baby). He loves playing fetch and going for walks and curls up in bed with me to sleep. I really can’t say a bad thing about him!! He howls at the door when the kids leave for school and is excited when they get home. He gets along with other dogs and has just been a joy to have!! I can’t thank 4 Luv of Dog enough, Jasper came into my life at the perfect time.

While I still miss my Beezlee, Jasper has made my life feel whole again!!!

Happy Tail for Keesha

It’s only been 3 weeks since Keesha joined our family but we knew right away that she was a keeper. From day one she has shown us what a smart girl she is. We started walking on a leash the first day and she started picking it up right away. Though squirrels and rabbits continue to be a challenge, our walks are working out quite well. She sits and lies down and is getting better and better with stay. She has plenty of energy and we love to wrestle. I wish we could do a video of her cute little “hop dance.” She likes our two cats and wishes they would play with her but so far they prefer to have little to do with her. She believes that every dog in the world is there for her to play with and has immensely enjoyed our visits to the dog park. Sure we still have lots to learn about each other but she’s a beautiful lady and when you look in her eyes you can’t help but love her. I hope she’s as happy with us as we are with her.

Happy Tail for Raven

Raven is doing great! She loves her new home and she gets a lot of love
from her family. Raven can sit, shake, stay, lay down, and is very close
on rolling over. Leash training is going very well, she still gets really
excited when she sees a person, dog, squirrel, rabbit… Pretty much any
creature that moves :)

Thank you for introducing us to Raven, she’s been a perfect addition to our home!

Happy Tail for Ruby

Here is a picture of Ruby and Bonnie together in Bonnie’s bed. They are two peas in a pod. We bought Bonnie a new bed the day we picked up Ruby in Fargo, and we also bought a smaller bed for Ruby; however, Ruby likes Bonnie’s bed much better and won’t go near her bed. Bonnie has gone in Ruby’s bed a few times, but it’s too small for her. I guess the next time we are in Fargo, we will have to exchange the bed for one like Bonnie’s.

Ruby has adjusted so well to our family. We haven’t been kenneling her at night, as she sleeps in our bedroom, either in Bonnie’s bed or right beside our bed. It is so much fun having her at our house. She makes me laugh and smile every time I look at her.

Happy Tail for Duke

Hello! Duke here! I just wanted to tell you that I love my new home! I have the best parents ever! Mom and Dad take me and my older brother,Tiny, for walks and play with us all the time! I especially enjoy playing tug of war with my bother! Although he starts to bark to much and lets go of the rope, then dad or mom have to help him get the rope again! I get along with everyone, and just want to play all the time. And I have the best Aunt Tina and Uncle Kyle, since they are the ones that introduced me to my mom and dad!

Happy Tail for Tully

We adopted Tully about a month ago now and we couldn’t be happier. He was a wonderful addition to our family. He didn’t only get parents, he also go a little sister that he is teaching a lot of things and as a true big brother he is protective of. He is an extremely obedient and well behaved dog. He loves his chew toys and his bones. He sleeps during the day in the home office by his new daddy and at night he cuddles his new mom sometimes right out of bed. With all his activities, between one nap and an other he loves to go for a walk and play rope with the little sis. You gots to keep everyone happy you know ;p We keep in touch with the ex-foster mom and send her new pictures on a regular basis. :)

Well, we are thankful for the good care that Tully received with his foster mommy and the fact that we found him. We couldn’t have had a better match!

Happy Tail for Scout (Tuffy)

We adopted Scout (formerly Tuffy) into our family the end of August. We had been looking for another canine companion for quite some time when we came across this little guy’s picture.

Scout and our other dog Winnie bring so much joy to our family and really enjoy one another. When they aren’t playing together, they are usually cuddling with one of their four humans or each other. We are grateful to organizations such as 4 Luv of Dog for rescuing animals who deserve another chance at happiness and are in need of a forever home.

Happy Tail for Peter

Mr. Peter Will is the laziest puppy I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. We adopted him when he was 3 months old, and we were convinced he was either narcoleptic or terminally ill for the first few weeks. One of the volunteers at 4 Luv Of Dog told us that we should thank our lucky stars ’cause we were “Blessed by the Bully Gods”. You don’t often see a lazy pittie pup. Peter’s still a good napper, but is considerably more energetic than when he was a pup. Peter loves to play with his sister Dharma, and he tries his best to get Lucky to play. He’s been successful a few times, but Lucky’s a good napper too :)

Peter is everyone’s favorite dog. He likes to cuddle with the kids, play tug and go on bike rides with my husband, and he sneaks up on the bed at night to sleep with me. He’s my dog Dharma’s best friend. Whether eating, sleeping or digging a hole to China in the backyard, they are always together.

Peter’s gentle demeanor has changed a more than a few people’s minds about Pitbulls. We love to bring him everywhere we can so we can show people what Pitbulls are really all about. Even my husbands aunt, who said she was scared to death of him, was caught cuddling with Peter at the last family barbeque. My mother in law said she never thought she’d have a pitbull as a grandson, and now when she comes over he gets hugs before anyone else! Peter makes all of us laugh every single day, whether it be because he fell asleep with his head hanging off the couch, scaled the baby gate between the kitchen and living room to snag that piece of pepperoni that fell off one of the kid’s pizza, or finding him staring puzzled at a ray of sunlight shining on the harwood floor.

Peter has been nothing but an absolute joy, and we are so thankful to Kitra, Kish, and 4 Luv Of Dog Rescue for saving him and bringing him into our lives. Thanks Again!

Happy Tail for Brick (Ali)

Brick (formerly Ali) is doing fantastic. We adopted him in July and he adapted quickly to us and my cats. Though there were a few fiascos (he stole a whole loaf of zucchini bread off the counter and had a party with a box of cake mix I accidentally left out), otherwise he is well behaved. The first two weeks he whined when we’d go to work, but he’s now completely over his separation anxiety. He’s made some new doggie friends, loves walking in the park, and cuddling with us and the cats. He likes playing with the tennis ball when we throw it and his toys never last long — he shreds fabric toys in seconds to get to the squeaker. He’s now taking obedience classes and I hope to try him soon in agility.

Thanks so much, 4 Luv of Dog. We’re so happy with him and couldn’t imagine him not in our lives. Thanks for saving this pup’s life and all the others dogs that otherwise wouldn’t have found good homes. You’re a great organization and I’m excited for the silent auction!

Happy Tail for Koannah

It’s been over a year and a half since I adopted my Koannah and she is perfect as always. Growing up I barely knew pitbulls existed. Then I moved to Fargo and met Kish’s dogs Santo and Halas and thought how extraordinarily loving and beautiful-looking they were. I started fostering dogs for Adopt-A-Pet and after four dogs I decided it was time for my own, hoping for a pitbull. I saw Koa on the website and knew when I met her that we were meant for each other. She pummeled into me and smothered me with wiggles and puffs. Since then I can’t go away without missing her.

Last summer I had a disc in my back protruding onto a nerve, causing extreme pain. Every time my back was about to spasm and start really hurting, Koa would start whining and want to be next to me. She let me know it was time to lay down and hold on until I could move again. Now my back is better, but she does the same thing when I’m feeling sick or sad.

My friends always joke that she is so “aggressive” when she is smothering everyone with love and licks. The most pain she has ever caused anyone is smacks on the leg from a very fast-wagging tail. Not all other animals realize she means no harm, until she does the “butt on fire” move to try to play. I love her intensity about life and her constant affection. I can’t thank 4 Luv of Dog enough for bringing her to me. The people in your rescue are saints for what they do. Koa would also like to send out many, many, many licks and tail-whips!

Happy Tail for Paydin

I want to thank 4 Luv of Dog for accepting me into their rescue and helping me find my Mom and new family. Mom told me she always wanted a malamute and when she saw me she knew I was the one! I just had to pass the ‘will the resident dog love me’ test…and I did!

We also foster for the rescue and I love it when we get a new foster dog to play with. I tell them that I found my home the same way they are and someday they will have a family to call their very own too :) Anyways, THANK YOU 4 Luv of Dog Rescue for helping me find my fun (and sometimes chaotic) forever home.

Love ~Paydin

Happy Tail for Daisy

Thank you 4 Luv of Dog Rescue! We are a foster home and Daisy was one of our foster dogs! She jumped and dug right into our hearts and has added many touching moments and laughs! She and our other girl, Lady, have been good at welcoming other foster dogs in to our home. She is an extremely luvy dog and is my special girl, following me everywhere. We have gone on many walks this summer and Daisy is all business, very seldom reading the news or other distractions. She is a joy to have around.

Thank you!

Happy Tail for Wrigley

Wrigley is doing very well! He’s doing great at heeling. He’s the best exercise plan we could have asked for – I think we need to start biking him because my gluts are sore! He is a handful, as you know, but he’s such a sweet, cuddly boy. The only “problem” is the one you mentioned – the cats. I think he would be fine with them if they were just calm, but as soon as they hiss or run away, he barks/growls and wants to chase after them.

Happy Tail for Lola

Hi, my name is Lola and I am so happy that 4 Luv of Dog helped me to find my mommy and daddy (and my brother Pongo). My daddy says he always wanted a pit bull and I’m the best friend a guy could ask for. I love to play catch and Frisbee outside and recently my mom even started allowing me to play catch inside when it’s cold. I really love to hold people’s hands too, if you let go I’ll just paw at you until you hold my hand again. Mommy always calls me her pretty girl because I’m always smiling at people. The first day I met my mommy I was kind of a pain in the butt and didn’t like Pongo at all but I was just testing them to see if they could put up with me. Today I love to listen to mommy and daddy and all I care about is making them happy.

Thank you so much to Amy and Kish and everyone at 4 Luv of Dog for taking care of me until I could find my place in this world, I love you.

Happy Tail for Jazzy

Jazzy is a 6 year old miniture pinscher adopted on July 17th, 2009. Jazzy was called “Frankie” by 4 Luv of Dog Rescue but we felt that Jazzy suited her better!

She is the sweetest dog, is well-behaved, and loves unconditionally! Jazzy sits up tall, rolls over, begs, and shakes for treats. She seems to have slight attachment disorder since she goes completely crazy in her kennel when she hears someone come home…YAY my owners didn’t abandon me! She has become an important part of our family. My friends children love her and she tolerates them very well….how would you feel if you were dressed up in doll clothes!?

My experience with 4 Luv of Dog Rescue has led me to “brag” to others about how good Jazzy is and how easy and painless the process was….the only problem was waiting once I knew that SHE was the one! Thank you for rescueing Jazzy and allowing me to adopt her!

Happy Tail for Lucky

Thank you 4 Luv Of Dog, for giving me the opportunity to adopt the world’s perfect dog! Aside from being irresistably handsome, Lucky is incredibly mellow, wonderful at fetch, walks like a gentleman on his leash, and gets along wonderfully with his brother Peter and sister Dharma. He loves the kids (they drop food :) and happily shares me with my husband. Lucky insists on having half my pillow at night, but thankfully doesn’t hog the covers. He wakes me up every morning with an ear nibble and sloppy kiss. Okay, so he’s not perfect, he’s a sloppy kisser.

Lucky is the best dog I have ever met. Thank you Kish, Sam, and the wonderful volunteers at 4 Luv Of Dog Rescue for rescuing him from the pound and giving him a home (and teaching him ‘shake’!). It took us 6 months to find him, but I don’t know what we ever did without him!

“A special thank you to Jamie for all the extra TLC Lucky got while in boarding, and thanks to the 4 Luv Of Dog volunteers that picked Lucky up for field trips to their homes, adoption days, and the dog park! Special attention like this is one of the reasons Lucky is such a wonderful boy!”

Happy Tail for Penny

Hi my name is Penny. I was adopted on May 16th, 2009. My adoptive owners had to put to sleep their 12 year old German Shepherd in March and were very sad. They were going to get a German Shepherd puppy from Wisconsin in June BUT someone told them to check the 4 Luv of Dog Rescue website. Guess what?? My picture was on the website and they fell in love with me before they got to meet me!

My new home is awesome! I have a cat for a sister (she thinks she is a German Shepherd) and a big yard. We play ball, Frisbee and go for walks. This summer I went to the lake on week-ends. I like strolling in the water and am learning to swim. Now, the pontoon is another thing. I am the first one on and the last one off.

Happy Tail for Nick

I was going to just foster this one and the minute I met him I knew he belonged with our family. We agreed on the name Nick. Nick has three kids to play with, daily walks, a large fenced yard, and an annoying little brother named Casey. Casey is that little brother that loves to play and pick on the older one. Nick is so laid back that he’s able to ignore him most of the time. I can’t believe what wonderful manners Nick has, no table surfing, jumping or accidents! Why anyone would want a puppy is beyond me. Nick has been a perfect dog. Really, I have only wonderful things to say about him. I love the way he walks around with a ball in his mouth, wagging his tail and nudging his head up to you for a rub. I have been brainstorming the idea of having him be a therapy dog. His calm, gentleness makes you fall in love with him. Thanks 4 Luv of Dog for saving another life!
