28 Jul Happy Tail for Meatball (FKA Yen)
“It was an anxious ride home for me sitting in my crate whimpering not knowing where these people I just met were taking me. After whimpering on and off for about an hour we stopped to walk around a rest area, drank some water and got back into the car to finish the ride. Falling asleep now in a very precarious position but cute as a button as her lips peeled upward from resting her face against the crate door. We stopped and met some very nice customs officers before we arrived at a strange place, cautiously we entered and began sniffing around, suddenly a larger dog appeared and I was pretty afraid. The strangers that brought me here quickly scooped me up and assured me that my big sister meant me no harm but removed her from the area swiftly.
This is how I accidentally met Gipsy only 15 minutes after arriving at home.
After calming down and seeing my new older brother pass through to another room we explored the area some more before we went out the other side of the house to see the large fenced in area where I could run free. I wanted to run so badly but I had a tether on my neck so we explored the area slowly. After a short while we went back inside and had some snacks and a drink before finding some toys, a few familiar ones but so many new ones I completely forgot about my old toys, we played until I couldn’t play anymore, and then I fell asleep between the friendly people that brought me here.
The next day I couldn’t bear it any longer I needed to meet my sister and brother, I could smell them through the door but I couldn’t see them, I whined and whimpered until finally my people let me go through to meet them. I was cautious, my sister seemed huge, but I wanted to play so badly…. I threw myself at her and rolled over on my back. I don’t think she even budged!
But she started playing with me slowly and now I have a hard time leaving her alone! My brother is still unsure of me and sits on the couch watching us play most times but it sure is fun when he does join in and we all play together.
Sometimes I have to go in my crate so my brother and sister can have some alone time, I know I can be a bit much for them, they are quite a bit older than me after all.
Fast forward a week and my human lifted me up and put me on a scale, apparently I’ve gained nearly 4.5 pounds since coming here, wow time flies and I’m growing so fast, soon I’ll be bigger than my brother!
After another week I got another new brother! His name is Manfred, he’s little just like me, but can still take him down, he’s lots of fun and gives my older siblings time to rest from my endless energy.
I’m learning that the water bowl always has water and I don’t need to drink all of it right away, sometimes I still need to be distracted with toys though. I am learning that I can do some tricks and when I do them correctly I get treats, I gobble them so fast sometimes I don’t even know what they taste like. Oops.
Fast forward to the surgery
I had a surgery, I wasn’t even scared at all the place I went to the people were so nice, I wish dad could have come with me though. But he was there waiting when it was all over. When we got home my brothers and sister were waiting for us, they sure took their time sniffing me to see where I’d gone. Over the next week I wasn’t able to be so rambunctious but I still found ways to have fun an play with my adopted brother Manfred.
But after about 2 week I felt great like nothing had ever happened. Everything is back to normal again, I wrestle with Manfred a lot while my older brother and sister watch. Sometimes Gipsy (my older sister) joins us but I can’t quite take her down yet.
Dad got me on the scale again and at only 7 months old I’m a whopping 43 pounds. I’m already much bigger than Manfred and my other brother Cooper. Dad thinks I might get as big as my big sister Gipsy. That would be great cause then I could totally take her down.
Anyway I have to get going, I have playing to do!
