Foster Home Feedback

8/12/2020: I have had Elm since Monday evening and oh man what a sweetheart! Elm wiggles her butt every time she gets excited and it will totally make you smile & melt your heart.

She loves walks and has great leash manners.  Elm loves to chew on toys and bones but hasn’t chewed anything she isn’t supposed to. I have a large black Lab who she loves to get the zoomies with and play with.  She is very enthusiastic about playing so she can be a little overwhelming at first but we are working on that!

Elm is a true snuggle bug and will wiggle her way on your lap and lives to be loved up!  She is potty trained and lets you know when she needs to go out by going to the door.

She has been sleeping in the crate at night and has no issues there.  Elm is ready for her forever home!!

6/25/2020: Elm is a rock star!!  She had two dog meets last week, the first one didn't go great, but that wasn't on Elm - Elm just wanted to play, but the other dog (large female) wasn't having it.  Then she met with a large male dog and they really hit it off and played so well together!

Elm also did a cat test that went pretty well.  She really didn't seam interested in the cat.  To be fair, Elm was distracted by the owner's son who she just couldn't get enough of.  She seems to LOVE kids.  She met a 2 year old and was very sweet and respectful.

Elm has made great progress and is barking less - she still usually doesn't know what she's barking at, but she is more responsive when I redirect her from it.  She kennels pretty well, she's reluctant but is very chill when she's in there.

This girl wants to MELT into her person - she is such a cuddle bug.  She spends days at my feet under my desk sleeping while I work and cuddles at night.  Elm does still like to find a cozy place like under the bed or in a covered kennel to hang out.

Whoever adopts Elm will be a very very lucky home - she really is the best!

6/5/2020: Elm is an absolute sweetheart who is coming out of her shell but will never lose track of me in the house – she is my shadow.

She loves to go on walks and she’s slowly trying to figure out what playing is, sadly it seems like an alien idea to her.  Elm needs time to learn how to be a dog.  She is finding her voice though - in fact, she can be very vocal, so apartment life may not be for her (or the neighbors).

Elm was tested with other dogs as soon as she came into the rescue, and it didn’t go great – but once she started feeling better, she seemed to get better around dogs when on the leash.  Now that Elm is spayed, her hormones are starting to normalize, and we plan to do another dog test with her. We will post the results of that test once completed.  We are cautiously optimistic that she will be good with other dogs but will likely still need slow intros as she doesn’t seem to be very socialized.

Whoever adopts Elm will be very lucky, she’s a champion snuggler and is really looking for a best friend.  Elm has been through so much – she deserves to find love in a forever home.
