11/5/2020: Meet Mooney! If you have been searching for a 75 lb lap dog, then he is your guy! He loves to cuddle and be affectionate, it is no joke that he is a total lap dog! He can never get close enough! Since having him in our home, we have gotten an endless supply of snuggling, kisses, and demands for petting. Mooney doesn't always pay attention to his size, so sometimes we have to set some boundaries for him.

He gets along great with other dogs, but likely needs playmates his size and energy level! Mooney wants to play all the time and can be very boisterous and loud when he does (he also doesn't always realize his size and strength). He listens well to my 50 lb Pitty when she has had enough. I have had no issues with him sharing toys and bones with my resident dog, he loves to play tug with her! He is just a young guy who loves to go, go, go!

Mooney is fabulous in his kennel and happily runs in any chance he gets! It is his safe space and he loves to relax in there. He will also go in there for some calm time when he is getting too excited and sleeps through the night in there too.

We've been working very hard on walking nicely on the leash since he has been with us and he is getting much better! Mooney is very strong and will need some reminders to walk nicely. He is incredibly smart and treat-motivated, which makes him quick to learn new things. Mooney certainly has that Shepard drive to learn! He knows 'sit', 'down', 'stay', and 'shake' so far.

Mooney is a young dog with energy to burn and would love a family that will give him proper outlets for exercise and mental stimulation. On the flip side, he is also happy to relax and cuddle on the couch while watching TV in the evenings.

We don't know a lot about his past, but we do know that Mooney's forever family needs to be devoted to continue creating positive experiences in his life to show him that this world isn't scary. Mooney can get nervous around new people (especially men), but cheese is the way to his heart and once he trusts you then he will love you forever. Younger kids make him very uncomfortable and the busy "come and go" lifestyle of teenagers likely wouldn't mesh well with his personality. While he is still scared of various things in this great big world, his confidence has grown immensely after being with me for a couple of weeks and I know he can continue to thrive with the right people.
