Foster Home Feedback

1/10/2022: Meet Nilla! This caramel brown beauty is looking for a family as sweet as she is. Nilla has a variety of talents and interests she would like to share with her future family.
Being about 9 months old in the middle of winter, Nilla has discovered her love of toys and puzzle feeders. While cats are interesting, doggy friends are much more exciting for Nilla! Another favorite we couldn’t possibly leave out is Nilla’s absolute love of warm beds and someone to snuggle with. If you’re cool enough to own an electric blanket, Nilla has promised to allow you to use 1/4 of it during your snuggle time (what a generous dog!). Lastly, Nilla’s elephant-Esque ears allow her to hear a pin, or kibble bit, drop from across the room! She has assured me that this ability to listen is highly transferable and she would very much like to enroll in doggy school for some training.

Nilla has many wants on her family wish list, but the biggest want of all is for people that will love and care for her forever.

12/8/21: When I initially picked Nilla up from the emergency vet after she found her way into some human medication she was sleepy and quiet. It only took a day or two for that to change! Nilla is a smart, silly puppy that loves wrestling with our young resident dog. Nilla is 95% housebroken with only the occasional accident which we are thinking is due to the recent cold weather (Miss Nilla is NOT a fan of the cold).

During the day when unsupervised, Nilla is kept in her kennel with a blanket and a large kong. She will bark for a short while but calms down if there is no activity she can hear/see. Nilla still needs work on her manners, but is catching on quickly! We are currently working with Nilla on not jumping up on guests or counter surfing.

I think Nilla would do best in a home where she can get lots of attention and playtime. She has made great friends with our resident dogs but does struggle with some resource guarding at times with other dogs/cats. She is fed in her kennel and any treats are given with supervision. Nilla would most likely do well with children, although her size and energy should be considered if there are small kids around that could be knocked over.

Overall Nilla has been a great foster puppy! If you're looking for a smart and very cuddly dog to share your home with then Nilla's your girl!
