** Nettie has been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. The thyroid produces a hormone called Thyroxine, in dogs with Hypothyroidism there is an underproduction of this hormone. This is a common endocrine disorder in dogs and requires daily medication to manage. The cost is about $14.00 per month. Annual blood checks are also required with your veterinarian to make sure the medication is at therapeutic levels.
She also has a history of elevated liver enzymes, that are well managed on medications, the cost is about $47 per month.

6/18/2022 Foster Feedback: Nettie and Celie have been with me for almost 4 months while we figured out Nettie's medical needs. These girls may be seniors but don't let their age fool you, they have plenty of spunk left! They get along great with my dog, who learned pretty quickly that they weren't up for playing with a dog bigger than them. But they both will go and lay by her to cuddle. And they get along just fine with my cats. Although Nettie does like to be the boss so if the cats sass at her she will hold her ground. Same goes if my dog accidentally steps on her she tells her what she thinks about it. Because of this I think she would do best with dog savvy cats and dogs who are willing to be bossed around by a 15lb fluff.
Both girls are potty trained and will go to the patio door to let me know that they need to go out. They are kennel trained and will go in on command. Celie likes to play fetch with her little squeaker toys, while Nettie prefers to entertain herself with her toys. Celie is the more vocal of the two, but they both will bark at noises outside or if my neighbors are outside while we are outside. So these girls wouldn't be ideal for apartment living. Both are still able to jump up on the couch, Nettie does need carpet to be able to do it. I have vinyl flooring and had to move a dog bed near the couch so that she would get enough grip to jump up. This goes for my stairs as well, which are also vinyl flooring, and I do need to carry her up and down, but she does my deck steps and any other steps just fine. Both girls met my friends two-year-old daughter and they did fine, although they did jump up on her when she first came in, and I am sure if she had food they both would try to take it from her. So that would be something that would need to be considered if you have younger kids or have some that visit.
These girls are so sweet and are looking for a great home to live out their golden years.
