Foster Home Feedback

5/16/2022 Foster Feedback:

*Meeko seems to be mostly housebroken. She has only had 2 accidents in the house and both of them were within the first few days I had her. That is very typical with foster dogs until they learn the routine. No cause for alarm there. She seems to understand the concept of when to go outside now, usually with the other dogs.

*Meeko lives with 2 Boston Terriers and 1 Rottweiler (my dogs) and she does fine with all of them, so she is good with dogs big and small, male and female. She is not very playful with any of them. I have never even seen her attempt to play with them, but she will play with me if I pursue it.

*I have 2 cats, and she has never even looked at them.

*Meeko has never shown aggression to any men, women, or children.

*I leave her kenneled when I am at work and when I sleep. She has never made a noise in the kennel and has never had an accident in the kennel. At first she did not like going in there, I had to force her to go in it, but now she goes in there willingly.

*Meeko does enjoy being outside. I have a very small area for her as I live in a townhome, but she would like a big back yard to roam around in.
Meeko is pretty good on a leash; I have not had any issues with her when I have to bring her somewhere.

*She rides well in the car.

*Only negative is she does seem to have some resource guarding, but very minimal. If my dogs get too close to her dish when she is eating, she does growl at them, but I have not had any incidents yet. I do feed them all separate which is the easiest way to avoid any problems.

*Meeko is much larger than she appears in the pictures, but she is a gentle giant.

4/5/2022 Volunteer Feedback: Meeko came to the shelter last night matted and full of thistles. I stayed late and by the power of baby powder I got all of them out. This girl was the absolute best! She didn't complain once, she didn't squirm, and she gave me kisses once she could finally wag her tail again. She's truly a well mannered little girl!

** Meeko is Lyme and Anaplasmosis positive.  These are tick-borne illnesses, and she is currently being treated with Doxycycline.
