3/4/2023 Foster Feedback: Pharaoh is a sweet, handsome dog. His looks are intimidating, but don't let that fool you; he is a lover. He is young and excited when meeting new people or fur friends. He does calm down after enthusiastic hellos.
He loves to run and play but keeps an eye on his humans to be sure they are close; our yard is not fenced. He comes when called, is potty trained of you listen for his cues. He loves to cuddle or just stretch out on the floor. Sometimes, he prefers to take a break in his kennel, and I'll find him lying in his kennel with the door open. He sleeps all night in his kennel and is patient in the morning while he waits for me to open the door so he can stretch and go outside.
He doesn't beg or try to get handouts while sitting near the dinner table. The kids snack in the living spaces, and he hasn't taken anything from them. He understands his toys vs. the kids' toys for the most part.. furry boots look like toys, so I've learned to use the closet.
Speaking of toys, he is learning how to play with humans but is a little tough. He nips sometimes when biting up on tug toys or tries to get you to play ball by dropping it and picking it up on your leg, lap, or feet and end up pinching you.
He shows the most excitement when you are holding a leash or harness because he is sure he's getting to go somewhere. He will jump to "help" you with his harness and leash and has knocked me backward in his excitement. We are working on taking his leash and harness on and off.
He follows our older dog around and enjoys playing with her, but he'd probably be fine as an only pet, too.
I hope he can find his forever home.
1/25/2023 Building Volunteer Feedback: Pharoah is a young guy bursting with energy. He is always meeting building volunteers with joyful hops and is so excited to spend some time in the fenced back run playing tug, fetching balls or just zoom- zooming around. After his initial burst of energy is out, we proceed with learning loose leash walking skills. He has already made so much progress! The volunteer team is working with Pharoah on other skills that every respectable dog should possess like sit (and staying still is so hard for a young pup), down, and place. Luckily, if you have treats, you are his best buddy! Pharoah would love to have a human to call his own, and if he can have a fenced in space to run, he would be even happier!
