Foster Home Feedback
** DOG-SAVVY CATS ONLY
05/10/2023 Foster Feedback: Trex would love a home with another dog or cats to play with and some outside space to roam! Sweet boy Trex does well with any dog he has met so far. He plays nicely with our big dog and has just wagged his tail and stood nicely when meeting dogs out and about. He does not have any resource guarding with food or toys. We think he used to have some barn cats as friends in his former life and will need a home with dog-savvy cats only as he will try to get to them and may give chase in the house if they run away. He is gentle with the cats when they do come in contact and will listen to their hissing warnings to stay away. (Our resident cats want nothing to do with any dog). Trex has been good with our kids, but doesn't always realize his size when walking around our toddler and may knock him down from time to time. He will come up to the little one and give a kiss every now and then and plays equally nice with our 9 and 10 year olds in the yard with a ball or rope.
Right away when coming to our home, Trex did well when kenneled, only crying the first few minutes before settling in. He now spends his time outside the kennel free roaming while we are at work and at night. He is house trained and will stand by the door and whine when he needs to go out. He has not had any accidents around the house. During the day he will lounge around and occasionally sit on the couch just to look out the window. Trex has never been interested in getting on the bed and typically chooses to sleep outside the kids bedrooms or on the floor next to our bed at night. Trex has recently decided he can be so kind and will help clear the table or counters if you leave food out after meals (especially meat!), but otherwise doesn't seem to bother with counter or table surfing. He enjoys a good meaty treat every now and then and just enjoyed his first pup cup the other day.
Trex was recently medically cleared after having hip surgery. He still has a slight swagger at times to one of his back legs, but he doesn't let that bother him. The doctors have said he has some arthritis in his joints as well so he enjoys joint supplements daily and would like his new home to continue those for him.
Trex has really come out of his shell and is showing his true sweet and fun personality. He likes to be around his humans. In fact, his favorite place to be is right where you need to walk or work. He would love to come lay under your feet in his new forever home!
