Foster Home Feedback
7/28/23 Volunteer Feedback: I had the pleasure of taking Wylie to his first TV interview yesterday, and what a sweet guy! He had no hesitation in meeting strangers—every human he meets gets an enthusiastic tail wag and a big smile. He got the nickname Smiley Wylie for a reason! He rides nicely in the car, although he debated with himself about whether to lounge in the backseat or be supportive while riding shotgun. He also LOVES cheese (and all other treats, I think!) and takes treats nicely. He is a big strong goofy lab and pulls pretty hard on his leash, so his adopter will need to continue working on his leash manners, but he listens well to directions and is treat-motivated.
7/26/23 Foster Feedback: Meet Wylie, a sweet and playful 5-year-old yellow lab who loves to spend time with people and play fetch. Wylie is crate-trained, house-trained, and has lots of love to give. He's best suited to a family without other dogs, but he gets along great with kids of all ages. Wylie's fun-loving and goofy personality will make him a wonderful addition to your family. He's ready to find his forever home and shower them with love!
Special Note: Wylie previously lived with another dog, however is now in a foster home with no other pets. We have evaluated Wylie's dog friendliness, and while he tolerates other dogs, he is more interested in people. I introduced him to my female dog and he properly said hello with butt sniffs but after the quick initial "hello" he ignored her the rest of the time they were together. After about 10 minutes, my dog did sniff Wylie's rear end and he gave her a warning growl, she walked away, and he continued to sniff around, play ball, etc. I believe Wylie could live with another dog with slow, proper introductions and integration into a home with another dog, however Wylie is not a dog that will play or cuddle with other dogs. If you are looking for a playmate/companion for your dog, or a dog that will actively socialize with other dogs, Wylie is not a good fit. However, Wylie is typical lab in that he loves people and his tennis ball, and would make a great family dog!
3/25/2023 Foster Feedback: I've had Wylie for almost a week now, and so far so good! Is is really a good boy, very loving and cute. He is overweight, but I was given weight control food when picking him up, he eats it fine and hopefully that combined with lots of walks and play time will help him get down to a healthy weight. With that information, he is very food motivated when it comes to getting him to do things like get in the car/kennel/what have you.
He is housebroken, zero accidents in the house so far. When he has to go, he stands by the door and barks.
He LOVES balls and playing fetch. My young son was intimidated by Wylie's size for a little bit, but once he found out how much fun it was to throw the ball around and play, they became good pals. Wylie is very sweet to anyone and everyone. If we're out walking and another dog barks at him, he puts his tail down and whines rather than getting aggressive back.
Overall he's a very good, loving boy. He knows the command "sit", but that seems to be it.
