Foster Home Feedback

      * Not apartment-friendly

      * Dr Pepper needs to go to a home with another dog – she needs a dog buddy to help him/her feel comfortable and confident!

8/15/23 Foster Feedback: Pepper has been hard at work with her training this past month. When I first started taking Pepper on daily walks, she was slightly wild, to put it nicely. Any sight of a bunny or another dog would have her lunging and barking. If you saw Pepper on a walk now, it would be hard to believe it’s the same dog! Pepper is able to pause and watch a dog or bunny calmly. She can be redirected on her walks with string cheese or a game of “find it”. We have gone from walks lasting under 10 minutes to daily 30 minute walks. It truly astounds me just how trainable and willing to work this girl is.

Pepper likes to stay busy so we do daily puzzle games with her food for enrichment. She enjoys the challenge. Pepper is still loving her playtime with her foster dog brother and recently experienced swimming at the lake. She also seems to enjoy going for runs, but this is something she hasn’t had much experience with yet!

Pepper would thrive with an adopter who is willing to continue working on her training. She knows basic commands, but she is a dog who thrives when given jobs. The sky is really the limit with this pup!

7/11/23 Foster Feedback: Dr. Pepper has been with me for almost a week now and I can already see how lucky her forever home will be to have her. Pepper is loyal, intelligent, and can have a goofy personality.

Pepper is potty trained, sleeps through the night, and crate trained. She didn’t love her crate at first, but as soon as we relocated to a spot where she can see my resident dog through the day, Pepper realized the kennel is a safe spot for her to snooze while I’m at work. She settles into her kennel within minutes now. Pepper LOVES to play rough with my resident dog, but she is submissive. She knows that he’s the boss, and allows him to be. Pepper is also more confident with a dog buddy and would make an excellent companion to your own dog! She’s also perfectly content tossing toys around on her own or chewing on a bone when my dog needs a break from her.

Dr. Pepper can be suspicious and is working on her shyness when it comes to meeting new people. She quickly bonded with me as she learned the ways of my home, but she may bark when new people approach her. She needs a little time and lots of treats to understand that she is safe and that she can approach new people. Thankfully, Pepper is highly treat motivated so it’s a continued work in progress.

Pepper is the type of dog that will love you fiercely. She is independent in her play, and would be a wonderful companion to a resident dog and family. This young girl will have so much love to give her people and other animals and will surprise you with her quick ability to learn new things!

5/8/23 Foster Feedback: If you are looking for a great new puppy to join your home, look no further. Dr. Pepper is more than just a sweet face; she is so smart! She has quickly mastered potty training and will even sit right by the door to let you know she needs to go. She has adapted so quickly to our home, and we know she will adapt quickly to her forever home as well. Dr. Pepper does so well with our 3 yr. old dog, playing when he wants to play but also very content to coexist and chew on a Kong or any other toy. She has shown so much potential in her puppy training classes and can already SIT and SHAKE! She can’t wait to find her forever family to help her reach her full potential!

We feel confident in her crate training so far. Like most people, we both work full 8-hour days and Dr. Pepper does just fine in her kennel during that time. It is the cutest thing how excited she is to see you at the end of a long day, she will greet you with crazy excitement. On lazy Saturdays, you can find her curled up right at your feet on the couch, but she will always jump at the opportunity to chase a toy or go on a walk! It hasn’t taken us long to love Pepper, we know you will too!

2/21/23 Foster Feedback: My foster parents went on vacation and came back to a big girl!! I grew so much in those 10 days. I missed my foster brother… he’s soo fun to chase. I love to play with him. My favorite activity is to chase my foster brother and try to steal his toy.

We have lots of chew toys at this house too, so sometimes I will lay in my foster mom or dad's lap and chew on a toy and then fall asleep. Their lap is soo comfy!

I’m getting really good about going potty outside and sitting by the door…I sometimes whine when I need to go out but my foster parents also have a hanging bell I can ring whenever I need to go out…  My foster parents take me for walks when it’s nice out. I love to go for walks.

I can’t wait to find my forever home so I can steal your heart also… my foster parents tell me that a lot!!
