Foster Home Feedback

9/21/23 Foster Feedback:  Carpenter has been with us for 5 weeks now and has adapted extremely well to our routine and transitions well to/from his co-fosters on the weekends.  Still the best cuddler around, loves to chase bugs, has learned to play fetch, has quite the spring in his step and will try to steal your chair or just sit with you if you let him.  We have had many comments that he appears much bigger in his pictures than he really is.  He is now about 35lbs and quite petite and can easily fit in our lap.

It appears that his marking tendencies have gone away!  We have not found any markings in over 2 weeks, he is not using the belly bands anymore and also noticed he is not marking outside like he did before getting neutered.

Carpenter sleeps in our bed all night and kennels great when we are gone.  We continue to work on his reactiveness when excited.  He really just wants to play and meet new friends.

Carpenter is my first foster and I am impressed at the amount of improvement he has made in just 5 weeks.  He is very smart and wants to please and would love to find his permanent family to spend the rest of his life with.

8/30/23 Foster Feedback: Carpenter has been with us for almost 2 weeks now. He loves to cuddle and will melt your heart. He gets along well with our other resident (3) dogs both big and small. If the elder dogs tell him when they need space, he understands and leaves them alone. He traveled well with his foster brother to the lake and walks great without pulling much on the leash. Carpenter has been around children of all ages and does great and loves being pet. If you leave your seat unattended he may jump in and steal it.

Carpenter came to us with some marking tendencies which we are working on and hoping will go away now that he is neutered. Carpenter is very treat motivated, he has learned to sit, lay, roll over and is working on shake and stay. Carpenter hangs out in his crate during the day in the same room as one of his foster brothers and does great. He typically sleeps with us in bed or in his dog bed next to our bed.

I think he would love to have a friend in the home to play with but I also think he would do just fine on his own with someone that would give him the attention he deserves. He is still a puppy and gets excited when he sees another dog or when someone comes over and may jump up, so he will need his adopter to continue to work on redirecting. You will not be disappointed when you meet Carpenter!
