4/12/2025 Volunteer Feedback: Big boy Bongo is excited to go for a walk for 4 whole minutes, after 15 he is exhausted. He is looking for a semi-active family to slowly help him get more active. This guy is a big squishy marshmallow that would love to snuggle and chase a tennis ball down your hallway.
4/5/25 Building Volunteer Feedback: Big Bongo is an amazing dog! He is a gentle giant with plenty of drool. He’s eager to leave his kennel and becomes a devoted shadow—whether you walk or run (though his adorable waddle is more his style), Bongo is right behind you, without needing treats as encouragement.
Bongo enjoys exercise indoors, especially walking loops with a treat nearby. Surprisingly, Bongo shows great restraint—he doesn’t attempt to jump or snatch the snack from your hand. Instead, he listens attentively and is well-versed in commands such as "sit," "hand," "wait," "lay down," and "bed."
To manage his weight, his snacks—like the three low-fat treats used during training—are split into tiny pieces to prevent overindulgence.
Bongo is a very good boy with immense potential. With weight management and continued care, Bongo would undoubtedly love to play more and reveal even more of his charming personality.
12/31/2022 Foster Feedback: Bongo has spent two nights at our house. He made himself at home pretty quickly and is showing is personality more and more. He is potty trained. He goes to the door to let you know he has to go out. He does his business and comes in pretty quickly. He also is crate trained. I don’t think he necessarily likes to go in the crate, but goes in for a treat easily. He has been kept out of the crate at night and does well at night. We have a nine year old lab who he would really like to play with. She however, is geriatric and crabby and does not want to play. I understand he has been around other dogs and does well.
Bongo is a beautiful dog as you can see by the pictures. He has great color. He is pretty mellow most of the time but does have some spunk in him for play time. He likes to chew on tennis balls, a Kong ball, and plays with a rope. Here are a few of his likes/dislikes we have noticed so far:
Likes:
-Food! Bongo would eat every waking minute if you let him. He loves meal time and treat time.
-Kids. I have three children aged 7 to 13. He loves the kids. He stayed in my oldest daughter’s room Thursday night and I was up when he woke up. He greeted me calmly and immediately went to the other kids’ rooms to check on them. He got really excited when my youngest woke up. She received ear sniffs and lots of kisses from him when he saw she was up!
-His blankies. He likes to lay on the floor with his blankets. He is welcome on our furniture, but mostly seems to want to stay off of it and prefers to snuggle up on the floor with some blankets.
-Naps. He will wander around and play for a while, but he likes to nap after active time.
-His balls/toys. He likes to kick around the ball and chew on it. It is funny to watch.
-People. He has enjoyed meeting all the people he has been introduced to.
-Car rides. He sits nicely in the car and has enjoyed all the car rides he has been on so far.
Dislikes:
-The vacuum. The vacuum is an enemy. He thought he was tough and saving us from the vacuum. But really he would not get close enough to actually save us if it were an enemy.
-The sound of the dryer telling us the clothes were dry. Lol. He heard this while napping, perched his head up, and went to investigate. Maybe not a dislike, but it certainly peaked his interest!
Bongo is a happy go lucky dude and has been a great dog in our home so far.
