**  Cobbler has been diagnosed with cushing's disease (hyperadrenocorticism). This is a disorder in which the pituitary gland produces excessive cortisol. This requires daily medication to keep regulated. Cobbler is on Vetoryl 30 mg twice a day. This medication costs about $178per month. He will also require an ACTH stimulation test every 6-12 months, depending on the veterinarian, to make sure his condition is regulated. The testing costs about $150 each time. His next test will be due 2/2026

Foster Home Feedback

8/19/25 Foster Feedback:  Cobbler is the happiest senior dachshund in the world! He does well with almost everyone he meets. Sometimes, he is a little nervous with men initially, but warms up quickly. Cobbler does very well with potty training as long as he is kept on a routine. If he is not let out enough, he will poop in the house. At our house, Cobbler sleeps in a crate. He will often bark for the first 5-10 minutes he is in there, but he will eventually quiet down and sleep all night. He does keep his crate clean.
Cobbler does well with the 2 large dogs in our house. He is not interested in playing with them, but he is quite neutral with all the dogs he meets. He has been with sitters who have had small dogs and cats, and he has been fine with both.
He very much enjoys chewing on bones and lying with his people for a nap. He came into the rescue at nearly 20 pounds and has been working hard on weight loss. He is now 12.2 pounds! His Cushing's disease is now regulated, making him drink much less water, but it is still recommended that he not be allowed free access to water.
His medications may be expensive, but he is worth every penny!
