Accountant is a sweet and friendly girl

** Accountant's ideal home would include a play buddy to accommodate her energy and help occupy her when everyone else is away

Foster Home Feedback

11/30/23 Foster Feedback: Accountant has been in our home for over 2.5 months now and this girl is just fantastic!

This girl is the most social and confident dog in my house; she can easily navigate any public outings and is incredibly social with dogs of all shapes and sizes! As she has grown up in our care a little more, she has less and less of the puppy energy and more of the energy of an adolescent young dog. So she takes cues better from other dogs who don’t want to play and loves to play with the ones who do want to play with her!

Now, don’t get me wrong, this girl is busy. She is a high energy pup who needs the right amount of physical and mental exercise! She loves other dogs and playing with another playful dog is helpful for her day to day energy, but she’ll need the right dedication from her humans as well!

If you love to run? She’s the girl for you, she’d love it! If you are an avid hiker or outdoorsman? Right again, she’d love it! Want to train a dog to do agility or other sports? I think she’d excel! Especially in dock diving, since she loves the water. Even daily long walks and perhaps a trip to doggy daycare now and then would be amazing for her!!

For her mental stimulation, this girl loves to work and train. We’ve been getting in to a good schedule of training in order to get our foundational commands down and then we are going to move on to some fun trick training! She also loves to do doggy puzzles, getting Kongs, etc.

Even still, she always has a bit of spunk and character to her that just makes me laugh! You’ll have to learn to love her for the quirks, but trust me, it’s not hard. She currently thinks she’s part cat, so I added a dog bed on the top of her 48” kennel that she jumps up to lay in, ha!

She is such a wonderful and fun dog who will make an amazing companion for an active family. It has been such a joy to have her in my home and be the constant in her young adult life. I want nothing more than to see her succeed happily in a family that loves her as much as we do!

Consider giving this girl a forever home for the holidays! She’ll make it memorable by her adorable antics in the snow!

10/02/23 Foster Feedback: We discovered today that this girl ADORES the water!! She absolutely loved splashing around in the little puppy pool we put out today. If you want a dog to have fun at the lake, she would definitely be your gal.

She made her new best friend in another adoptable dog here at the rescue, Persephone, and they love to play together! I think this girl would really thrive in a home with another dog who wants to be her playmate.

I’ve been so proud of her, as we have been working on our training and have improved so much on kennel training! She now goes in with a verbal cue, happy to get the special kennel treats we give her in there, and has minimal objections when we need to put her in there. Adopters may need to keep in mind, that while she goes through an adjustment phase in a new home, this may regress a little bit, but I have no doubt as soon as she recognizes her new normal she will just as easily get the routine.

9/25/23 Foster Feedback:  Get ready for next tax season by bringing home your very own….Accountant!!

All jokes about her name aside, you won’t want to miss out on taking this girl home. She is such a wonderful little puppy that is going to make the most amazing family companion!!

We’ve had her in our home just a little over a week and she took no time at all to settle in. She just hopped right in and said ‘Oh! I live here now! Great!’. I think she would quickly fit in to any home she’d go to.

She lovesssss our other dogs and every other single dog she has met. I swear, of all of the fosters our family has had, I think she is the most dog friendly of them! Now, she is still a gangly puppy who is learning her manners, so she can be a little much for small dogs or dogs who may not want to play. But if you have a dog who desperately needs a play buddy to run off some steam with them, then she is your girl!! She’d also be the type of pup to do really well in a doggy daycare setting, if that is something your family wants to utilize! She also nicely shares all her toys and chews with other dogs, without any issues.

Accountant has never met a stranger she didn't like and thinks every single person is a friend!! She also adores kids. Once she’s run off some energy, she turns in to a snuggly girl. She’s navigated busy events packed with people and hasn’t batted an eye. She’d be an amazing dog if you want a companion that can go to patios and dog friendly events and farmer’s markets.

She is a big girl for 10 months and is still in that awkward teenage phase where she doesn’t know how to control all of her limbs and needs to keep working on her manners. She’s just a baby still after all! She likes to jump up and give hugs, which is something we are working on! She is very smart, though, and would learn any training super quickly. We’ve been working on getting a good basic manners baseline down and she is a quick study. She’d be the most amazing pup if you want to work on things like getting a Canine Good Citizen certification, dog sports, or maybe even therapy work.

I think Accountant would absolutely love a really active family who has a doggy sibling for her to play with and who loves to go for walks. She does have a good amount of energy and can be a busy little bee! She walks really well on a leash, both on just her collar or a harness!

She has been doing really good with potty training. In our house she has only had a few accidents, which is normal when a dog is adjusting to a new place, and they have really been mostly human error (us not realizing she needs to go outside). She goes to the door and whines when she needs to go out, then does her business right away in the backyard.

Now, what Accountant doesn’t like very much is the kennel. We’ve been working on keeping her more comfortable and quiet in the kennel, but it will likely need some continued work! She barks at first, but will settle down and go to sleep. I think in a household where she doesn’t need to be kenneled as often would help this issue so much (we work long hours and have to rotate her with one of our crabby dogs). She just wants to be with her people! At night she is quiet and sleeps through the night in her kennel after she gets her initial barking out and the same when we have to go to work. She likes to have some bones to chew on in there to keep her busy and sometimes I give her some calming treats to help her feel more comfortable.

This girl is really so good for her age, she is going to continue growing in to an amazing dog!! I think she would fit in most places and be an excellent companion for a wide range of families. Please consider meeting this sweet girl!!

** Accountant is Lymes and Anaplasmosis positive. These are tick-borne illnesses, and she is currently being treated with Doxycycline.
