Happy Tail for Cricket (FKA Joplin)

“I adopted Cricket (previously Joplin) at 8 weeks old, back in May of 2020. She is a Dachshund/ Labrador mix and is about 28lbs now that she’s full grown. As we just celebrated her 3rd birthday back in March, I wanted to express what a crucial part of the family she has become in the past three years.

It is safe to say Cricket has become a bit of a celebrity not only in my home, but in the eyes of most of my family and friends as well. So much so that I usually need to juggle and keep track of who is “next in line” to pet sit when I’m out of town as she is a lady in high demand, and I am constantly being asked if she can spend the night at her human friends’ houses. She has the most loveable and friendly demeanor of any dog I have ever had. She is not shy in the least and usually makes sure she is getting attention from somebody at any function. However, once the initial excitement of a guest has worn off, she is quick to snuggle up on the couch or in bed for a snooze.

Cricket also makes furry friends wherever she goes and loves to play with other dogs and even her little brother, Sticky Joe the cat. Cricket and Joe have become two peas in a pod and often follow each other around the house, share snacks, beg for ice cubes, and even nap together. Ironic to her name, Cricket is also fascinated by bugs and gets very excited to gently play with any she finds in the house or in the yard. It is easy to know when she has found one as she pounces and happy dances around them for a good 5-10 minutes.

It is safe to say that Cricket is a permanent part of the family, so long as I can continue to ward off all the friends that want to “steal” my sweet girl as soon as they meet her. She is so loved and will continue to be for many, many years to come!”
